As the recession takes a grip on the construction industry, Orchard’s phone stops ringing.
Richard pulls out all the stops, working seven-day weeks, to build up the business.
Due to permanent recruitment freezes throughout the industry, Richard makes the decision to start a freelance white collar desk.
Richard’s first child is born in the early hours but he is still in the office 7:30 to run payroll and ensure all contractors are paid on time.
Orchard continues to grow
Recognising that strong financial management was key to his future expansion plans, Richard takes steps to strengthen his organisation: Orchard is reborn.
Two new experienced construction recruitment consultants join the management team and the company moves to bigger offices in Wakefield’s Unity Works.
As Orchard continues to develop – taking on larger premises at Unity Works.
The appointment of another recruitment consultant and an administration & compliance officer prompts Orchard’s third move within Unity. Orchard Trades & Labour is established with two more consultants recruited to run the new division.
Orchard relocates to its existing home on Providence St, Wakefield giving room for long term expansion. The team swells with the appointment of more construction and technical recruitment specialists plus additional business support.
